Early Head Start |Infants and Toddlers

Early Head Start is a comprehensive child development program serving pregnant women and children birth to age three.  The program provides full-day high quality childcare, prenatal education and family development services for income-eligible families that are working, in training or in school.

Early Head Start’s low child to teacher ratio of 4:1 enables children to receive individualized care and education.   Teachers provide activities that support and enhance physical, social, emotional, cognitive, and language development. All enrolled children receive health and developmental screens, as well as on-going developmental assessments.

Early Head Start childcare services are available at three TAP Head Start Child Development Centers located in Roanoke city, at Greenvale School, and at Mother Hen’s Family Child Care Home.
