Head Start | Home-Based Services

TAP Head Start provides home-based services in Alleghany, Botetourt, Craig, Franklin, and Roanoke Counties.  Parents whose children are enrolled in the home-based program are seen as their child’s primary teacher.  They receive weekly home visits where they work with a home visitor to learn ways to best encourage their children’s development and get them ready for kindergarten.  The home visitor also helps families develop and work toward family goals in areas such as employment, housing, education, parenting, and transportation.

In addition to home visits, home-based families are offered field trips and monthly socializations where families across the county come together.  These educational group activities provide opportunities for children to learn and practice social skills with their peers and for parents to connect with each other.

For more information about the home-based program, please contact Darlene Bannister, Home Based Supervisor, at dbannister@tapheadstart.org or 345-6781, ext. 4342.
