Facility Maintenance Program

 

Using the CET model of training, This Valley Works will instruct adult students in the Building Trades Field for the position of Facility/Building Maintenance Technician. This course covers carpentry, electrical, plumbing, landscaping, and safety in these fields. At the successful conclusion of the program, students will be issued pre-apprenticeship certificates from the National Home Builders Institute in Facilities Maintenance.

 

The first two weeks of the program are a trial period. After successful completion of the first two weeks, students will receive a stipend of $8.00 for their hours at the program.

 

The class is 30 hours per week.

 

The program will house 5 to 6 students at a time for a three month period and will train 20 students during the year.

 

Information Needed for Eligibility and Enrollment:

 

1. TAP Intake Form

2. Adult over the age of 18—Birth Certificate or Government ID with birth date on it.

3.  200% poverty or less income—DSS statement, 2008 tax return, employer statement

4. Eligible to work in US—Social Security card, green card, etc.

5. Educational Ability—TABE at middle school level (TAP to administer TABE)

6. Aptitude—Interview with Instructor
