This Valley Works | Center For Employment Training

The trademark of this program is the open entry, open exit and highly individualized training model. Hands-on skill training tailored to meet the needs of local employers is available in Business Office Technology and Forklift Operation.  The program features job seeking and job keeping skills training  and unpaid apprenticeships.  Business English and business math are integrated in the training. Supportive services provided both during training and after job placement include job coaching, counseling, conflict resolution assistance and referrals.

The program features partnerships with local businesses serving on the Technical Advisory Boards whose purpose is to help develop curricula and facilitate the hiring of CET graduates. Businesses also help by identifying skills to target for training in order to remain responsive to employer needs.

In addition to TAP This Valley Works, there are five CET locations in the Commonwealth of Virginia offering training in various fields including business office technology; heating, ventilation and air condition (HVAC); certified nursing assistant; dental assistant, medical administration; diesel truck technician; welding; and building maintenance.  Hundreds of individuals have received training and become gainfully employed ( Click here for student success.)
