On April 24th, 2008 Project Discovery, Inc. awarded TAP's Project Discovery Program the outstanding program award for the third straight year. Project Discovery, a college access program for students who are the first in their family to go to college, was developed at TAP and then replicated across the state. This year TAP's Project Discovery Program served 162 students encouraging them to pursue their postgraduate aspirations.

This year TAP's Project Discovery Program has sixty two seniors who will be graduating. Thirty-two of the TAP students have already received early decisions of acceptance from colleges and universities. Among the schools selecting our students are Hollins University, Radford University, Roanoke College and Virginia Tech.

Gloria Charlton, TAP's Project Discovery Coordinator, received the outstanding program award for TAP. Ted Edlich, President of TAP, was honored for his part in starting the Project Discovery Program. Bill Skeen of Virginia Capital, and the past Vice President of Business Affairs for TAP, was recognized for his role as a board member of Project Discovery, Inc..

In addition to high school, middle school and transitional curriculum students have engaged in special projects that include sending 62 care packages to soldiers in Iraq and 30 shoe boxes filled with goodies for children overseas who have lost th eir parents.
