Job Fair 2008 marked the tenth anniversary of the Southwestern Virginia Regional Job Fair hosted by Tap This Valley Works and the City of Roanoke. The tenth Job fair was a great success by all reports. Special thanks should be given to our presenters and sponsors—WSLS, The Roanoke Times, The Hotel Roanoke, Wheeler Broadcasting, SHERM, and RAJOC. We’d also like to take this opportunity to thank the many volunteers who assisted at the event.

 

Approximately 2,500 job seekers spent the day visiting with 60 regional employers learning about job openings, filling out applications, and interviewing for jobs.  A highlight of the day was the early morning arrival of buses filled with high school seniors from throughout the region. After lunch the event was opened to the general public. Other activities at the job fair included a presentation on how to dress for success and personalized assistance on resume writing.
