1. Assists
teacher in planning activities that meet the social, emotional, physical,
and educational needs of the children in the classroom.
2. Demonstrates
knowledge of an adheres to the TAP policies and
procedures manual, the creative curriculum and Head Start performance
standards.
3. Interacts with
children in a respectful and appropriate manner.
4. Follows lesson
plans and routines but allows for flexibility to change with children’s
interests and needs.
5. Observes and supervises
children individually and as a group, and responds to the needs of the
group and individual children in a timely and appropriate manner.
6. Records, dates
and files child observations, work samples, and items for child’s
portfolio.
7. Seeks additional
education, attends at least 18 hours of training through workshops and
training sessions, and seeks out resources to continually improve skills in
the classroom.
8. Supports a
team approach in meeting Head Start Performance Standards and licensing
requirements. Works with center team
to solve problems or seek additional resources as needed to help families
and children.
9. Assists Lead
Teacher in creating an atmosphere in the center that is welcoming to
parents and families by greeting parents in a friendly manner as they bring
and pick up their children.
10. Follows the
NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct regarding appropriate interactions with staff
and parents, including taking concerns to appropriate sources, refraining from
gossiping or inappropriate interactions with colleagues and parents, and
exhibiting professional behavior at all times.
11. Presents self
professionally to colleagues, parents and community through appropriate
dress, language, and behavior.
12. Creates a
positive work environment by demonstrating flexibility and willingness to
perform other job-related duties as assigned, and by participating
appropriately in program planning and decisions, and in implementation of
those plans.
13. Assumes
duties of teacher in her/his absence, or upon request.
14. Reports cases
of suspected child abuse or neglect to lead teacher and calls Child
Protective Services immediately.
15. Performs all
other job related tasks upon request.
