HCD | GardeningThrough a partnership with the Corporation for National Service, TAP Housing and Community Development is able to offer assistance to local community organizations and neighborhood groups that would like to establish a community gardening program. This assistance provides a how to manual on starting and maintaining community gardens. According to the American Community Gardening Association, “community gardening improves the quality of life for people by providing a catalyst for neighborhood and community development, stimulating social interaction, encouraging self-reliance, beautifying neighborhoods, producing nutritious food, reducing family food budgets, conserving resources and creating opportunities for recreation, exercise, therapy and education.” We believe this premise and seek to help local neighborhoods groups improve their communities through gardening.
