Purpose

Classroom Substitute assists in the classroom planning and implementation of our educational programs and must be able to effectively collaborate with Staff, Central Office, Contract Specialists, Parents and Children.  They must be able to observe and professionally interact with children in a respectful and professional manner at all times.  They must adhere to TAP's policies and procedures and Head Start performance and curriculum standards. 

Education

High School Diploma or GED

Experience

2. Must be able to move freely and lift up to 40 lbs. with ease.

3. Must be proficient in oral and written communication skills.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

1. Must be able to adhere to written policies and procedures without frequent supervisor follow-up.

2. Ability to communicate and have cordial interactions with co-workers, other staff, parents and children.

3. Must be able to observe and supervise children individually and as a group and respond to their needs in a timely and appropriate manner.

4. Must have demonstrated initiative.

5. Must support a team approach in meeting Head Start Performance Standards and licensing requirements.

6. Must follow the NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct regarding appropriate interactions with staff and parents, includes refraining from gossiping or inappropriate interactions with colleagues and parents.

7. Must create a positive work environment by demonstrating flexibility and willingness to perform other job-related duties as assigned and arrive to work on time and ready to begin the day's activities.

Special Requirements

• Must have daily access to reliable transportation. 

• Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs with ease. 

• Must be able to successfully pass background investigation and drug test.

Salary

$7.00 per hour
