What is the Total Action for Progress Certified Nursing Assistant Program?

The Certified Nursing Assistant program prepares students to enter the field of Nursing. Our program provides both the classroom and clinical training required by the State Board of Health Professionals.

Our classes are typically held from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Our program consists of 4-7 weeks of training, which includes:

  • Minimum of 103 hours of classroom training
  • 40 hours clinical training
  • State-licensed nursing instructors
  • Hands-on clinical experience
  • Preparation for state examination

What areas does this program serve?

Clients are welcome from any locality. However, classes are held at the Roanoke Higher Education Center in Roanoke, Virginia and students must be able to attend these classes on a regular basis.

Is there a cost for this program?

Currently the cost for the class is $825 per person (subject to change); with financial assistance available for clients whose income is 200% or less of the area median income for Roanoke, Virginia. To find your area median income, click on this link.

Then click on the "FY 2017 Income Limits" Documentation button. You will be able to enter the city or county in which you live to find your area median income. If a client qualifies for financial assistance, the test fee for state licensing is also covered.

The Certified Nursing Assistant program is located at the Roanoke Higher Education Center, 108 N. Jefferson Street, Suite 503 Roanoke, Virginia. Am I eligible for this service?

Potential students must meet the following requirements:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Be a United States citizen and a resident of Virginia
  • Complete an application and interview
  • Complete basic reading and math competency tests
  • Meet income requirements

The State of Virginia also requires a barrier crimes check prior to enrollment.
